Hotel near Pantheon

Il Campo Marzio Hotel is an hotel near the Pantheon in Rome and near many other monuments and symbols of Rome. The ancient "Pantheum" is only 500 metres away from the hotel and can be easily reached by foot through Via di Campo Marzio towards Via dei Prefetti, Piazza del Parlamento, Via di Campo Marzio, Via degli Uffici del Vicario, Via della Maddalena, Piazza della Maddalena, Via del Pantheon and Piazza della Rotonda. The Pantheon is located in the Pigna district, in the centre of the city. Emperor Hadrian originally started building it in 27 BC, and then once again between 120 and 124 AD., after the previous structure was destroyed by fire. A circular temple dedicated to all deities, past, present, and future, with a portico with granite columns supporting the pediment. Thick brick walls and eight pillars support a hemispheric concrete dome with a central circular opening, the oculus. Two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still one of the world's largest domes.

Its prime location is what makes the 4-star Il Campo Marzio Hotel the location in Rome, since it's a hotel near the Pantheon in Rome. It's the perfect starting point when visiting the Pantheon, a Christian Basilica since the 7th-Century and also known as Santa Maria della Rotonda or Santa Maria ad Martyres. It's a minor basilica. Together with the patriarchal ones, it's the only basilica in the city that still has a chapter. While all the greatest temples were designed to be admired from the outside, in the case of the Pantheon, the inside is what truly enchants visitors.

The merit goes to its only source of light, a large opening in the centre of the dome measuring 9 metres in diameter. Inside the Pantheon, we'll also find seven niches between two Corinthian columns and the tombs of illustrious figures such as Annibale Caracci, Raffaello Sanzio, King Vittorio Emanuele II, King Umberto I, Queen Margherita of Savoia. The Pantheon is open every day: • Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 7.30 pm; • Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm; • On public holidays from 9 am to 1 pm.
